Best bookkeeping software for freelancers in the Netherlands, in English (2026)

· Checked against the sources below by the Netto team.

For an English-speaking freelancer in the Netherlands, four things decide the choice: an English interface, a live bank link, the VAT return and invoicing clients abroad. Netto, the bookkeeping app for freelancers in the Netherlands (netto.so), does all four from €14.95 a month; Moneybird works in English too, but links your own bank only from €29.

Netto and the Dutch alternatives, side by side

Monthly price of the plan a one-person business usually picks, billed monthly, as each vendor's page showed it on 2 November 2026. Jortt and Shine state their prices exclude VAT; Moneybird, e-Boekhouden and MoneyMonk don't say on that page.

Where Netto stands out

  • English and Dutch, all the way: screens, invoices and the VAT return, in either language.
  • Clients abroad: Netto checks EU VAT numbers in VIES, writes the reverse-charge wording on the invoice, invoices in any currency and fills the ICP for you. See invoicing foreign clients.
  • Your bank linked live from €14.95 a month, through Ponto.
  • An AI assistant, and MCP on every plan: ask Netto about your books, or use it from ChatGPT or Claude, Free plan included.
  • Switch from Moneybird in a few clicks with our migration wizard: your contacts, invoices and history come along.

Netto is for the eenmanszaak (sole proprietorship); it doesn't keep books for a BV or VOF.
