Moneybird alternative (2026): what Moneybird costs now, and switching to Netto

Moneybird costs €15 a month for Start in 2026 and €29 for Groei, the first plan that links your own account at another bank; its free plan ended on 1 July 2026. Netto, the bookkeeping app for freelancers in the Netherlands (netto.so), links your bank live from €14.95 a month, with the VAT return, invoicing clients abroad and a free plan to start on.

What does Moneybird cost in 2026?

The plans as shown on moneybird.nl/prijzen on 2 November 2026, per month when billed monthly. The page doesn't say whether VAT is included.

In plain terms: Compact lets you make 1 sales invoice, and Start processes 20 bank transactions a month without linking an account at another bank.

Paying yearly saves €12 to €96 a year, Moneybird says.

Worked example. To have your own bank account linked at Moneybird you need Groei: 12 × €29 = €348 a year. On Netto Starter that is 12 × €14.95 = €179.40, or €149.50 billed yearly (excluding VAT; Moneybird doesn't say whether its prices include VAT).

Moneybird no longer free: what changed?

Moneybird ended its free plan on 1 July 2026 (nieuws.nl). The cheapest plan is now Compact (€3), with one sales invoice. Netto keeps a free plan, with 5 invoices a month.

On Trustpilot Moneybird has a TrustScore of 2.2 out of 5, from 257 reviews (checked on 3 November 2026). Of the 97 reviews from the last 12 months, 49% gave one or two stars (35% one star, 14% two) and 41% gave five stars.

• The bank link no longer being part of Compact and Start; Moneybird confirms in a reply that it is now only in the higher plans.

Switching from Moneybird to Netto

1. Pick your moment. The start of a quarter is easiest, 1 January easiest of all: you file the old quarter's VAT return entirely from Moneybird.
2. Move your books in a few clicks with our migration wizard: your contacts, invoices and history come along to Netto. We switch it on for you and walk you through it: ask us to move your books from Moneybird.
3. Export your reports as well (balance sheet and profit and loss) for every year you have in Moneybird, to keep.
4. Keep your old records. The duty to keep them carries on when you change software.
5. Cancel Moneybird once your last return from it is filed.

How do I cancel Moneybird?

In Moneybird itself: you manage your subscription under account management (accountbeheer) in your Moneybird account. Export your data first, and cancel only once your last VAT return from Moneybird is filed.

Can I switch in the middle of the year?
