Add an expense and its receipt

Upload a receipt or bill, let Netto read it, and handle private items, foreign currencies and lost receipts.

Add a receipt

  1. Go to Expenses and press Add receipt.
  2. Drop the file in, choose a file, or use Open camera. Photos (JPEG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC) and PDFs work.
  3. Netto reads the receipt: the supplier, date, amounts, VAT and whether it's a receipt or a bill. If it's sure, you see a short summary of what it read. Press Save, or Edit details to change something. If it's less sure, the full form opens with the fields filled in for you to check.
  4. Choose how it was paid: Paid from bank, Cash or Not paid yet.

No receipt at hand? Choose Enter without a receipt and type the details yourself.

Reading receipts automatically is part of the Starter and Pro plans, and of the free trial. On the Free plan you upload the file and type the details.

Receipts with more than one VAT rate

A supermarket receipt can have 9% and 21% on it. Netto splits it into one line per rate, so you reclaim the right amount of VAT.

Private items on a business receipt

Each line asks Who was this for?: My business or Private. A private line stays on the receipt, so the total still matches what you paid, but it is not a cost and you reclaim no VAT on it. A receipt where every line is private can't be saved as an expense.

Receipts in another currency

Pick the currency on the receipt. Netto converts it to euros at the ECB exchange rate of the receipt's date and shows the rate it used. If a supplier abroad charged you no VAT, Netto treats it as reverse charge.

Send receipts without opening Netto

You can also send a photo of a receipt on WhatsApp, or forward bills to your own Netto email address. See Send receipts by WhatsApp or email.

Already saved this one?

If a receipt looks like one you already have, Netto asks. Choose Attach to this purchase to add it to the one you have, or say it's a different purchase.

"I can't get this receipt"

Lost a receipt? Open the expense and press I can't get this receipt. The cost stays in your books, but you don't reclaim VAT on it, and Netto stops asking for it. If you find it later, attach it and the VAT is reclaimed after all.
