Bill a client on a schedule
Set up a recurring invoice for a retainer or subscription, and choose whether Netto sends it or leaves a draft for you.
Do you bill the same client the same amount every month, quarter or year? A recurring invoice (a schedule) makes that invoice for you each time.
Set up a schedule
- Go to Invoices and press New invoice.
- Under Invoice type, choose Recurring.
- Pick the client and add the lines, as on any invoice.
- Under Schedule, choose:
- Frequency: weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or Custom (for example every 2 months),
- Starts on: the date of the first invoice,
- Payment terms (days): how long your client has to pay each invoice,
- Ends: never, on a date, or after a number of invoices.
- Tick Send automatically each time if Netto may email each invoice to your client. Leave it off to get a draft each time that you check and send yourself.
- Press Save schedule.
Already sent this client an invoice you want to repeat? Open it and choose Make recurring: the new schedule starts with the same client and lines.
What happens each time
Netto checks the schedules once a day. On the day an invoice is due, it is created with that day's date and the next number in your series.
- With Send automatically each time on, it is issued and emailed to your client straight away, just as if you had pressed send.
- With it off, you get a draft. A draft has no number yet; it gets one when you send it.
The schedule shows the date of the next invoice. Need it now? Press Generate now.
Pause, change or stop a schedule
You find your schedules under Invoices → Recurring. Open one to:
- Pause it, for example during a break in the work, and Resume it later,
- change the lines, the amount or the frequency. This only changes future invoices; invoices already sent stay as they are,
- End it when the work stops.
A deposit instead?
For a single project where you want part of the money upfront, choose Deposit under Invoice type. Enter the full project and the percentage you want now. Netto invoices that part, and you bill the rest later.
