Move to Netto from Moneybird or another tool
Bring your clients, invoices and unpaid invoices over from Moneybird with a token, or set up your books by hand when you come from another tool.
When to switch
The easiest moment is the start of a year or a quarter, for example 1 January or 1 April. Netto then takes over your books from that day, and your old tool keeps everything before it, including the VAT returns you already filed.
From Moneybird
Netto can read your clients, sales invoices and recurring invoices straight from Moneybird. It only reads: nothing in Moneybird changes.
- Go to Settings → Your data and press Import from Moneybird.
- In Moneybird, go to your profile → Developers. Choose "Create personal API token", call it "Netto import" and tick at least Sales invoices and Settings. (A token is a long code that lets Netto read your Moneybird data.)
- Copy the token, paste it in Netto, and choose the Take-over date: the day Netto takes over.
- Press Read my Moneybird data. Nothing is written yet.
- Check the overview, then press Import now.
What comes over:
- Clients. One you already have in Netto (same VAT number, KvK number or name) is linked, not added twice.
- Invoices that are still unpaid become open items: Netto expects their payment and matches it when it shows up in your bank.
- Paid invoices come over as history, so you see them, but they are never on a Netto VAT return: Moneybird already declared them.
- Recurring invoices come over paused. Stop them in Moneybird, then resume them in Netto, so your client isn't billed twice.
What doesn't: drafts, credit notes, invoices written off in Moneybird, and invoices dated on or after the take-over date. The overview lists each one with the reason. Enter invoices from after the take-over date in Netto yourself.
Are Moneybird's invoice numbers written like Netto's (for example 2026-0001)? Then your next Netto invoice continues the series. Netto never gives out a number you already have.
Netto deletes the token after reading. To be sure, delete it in Moneybird too. Running the import again later doesn't create anything twice.
From another tool
Use Switch to Netto, five steps of about 10 minutes:
- Migration date: the day Netto takes over.
- Contacts: upload a CSV of your clients and suppliers.
- Opening balance: what was in your accounts on that day. You find these figures in your old tool's closing balance, or ask your accountant.
- Bank history: upload a bank file for the period before, if you want it.
- Outstanding invoices: invoices you sent before switching that haven't been paid yet, so Netto can match their payments. Here you also enter the number of your last invoice, so Netto continues the series.
