Delete your account and your data
What happens when you delete your Netto account, why your books are kept for 7 years, and what to do first.
Before you delete
- Download your data. Under Settings → Your data, press Export next to Export my data, and download the auditfile and the accountant ZIP for each year from Reports. You have to keep your business records for 7 years yourself, so keep these files somewhere safe.
- File any VAT return that's still open, and tell your accountant.
Delete your account
- Go to Settings → Your data and press Delete my account.
- Type DELETE to confirm and press Permanently delete.
You're signed out straight away and can't sign in again. At the same moment Netto:
- stops your plan, so nothing more is charged,
- stops your bank connection, at your bank too,
- unlinks WhatsApp and switches off your email address for bills,
- stops your recurring invoices and online payments,
- stops the summary emails Netto sends you.
Why your books are kept for 7 years
Dutch tax law says business records must be kept for 7 years. So Netto can't erase your invoices, costs and bookings the moment you delete your account. They are set aside where nobody can sign in to them, and kept only to meet that rule.
This can't be undone: if you want to use Netto again later, you start a new account.
