Connect your bank or upload a bank file

Get your business payments into Netto with a read-only bank connection, or by uploading the file your bank gives you.

Checked against the app on 3 November 2026

Netto needs the payments in and out of your business account to check your invoices and costs against them. There are two ways to get them in.

Both need a paid plan. Starter includes one connected bank account, Pro three.

Connect your bank

A connection brings new payments in by itself, several times a day.

  1. Go to Bank and press Connect bank.
  2. Read what the connection can and can't do, and agree.
  3. Search your bank and pick it.
  4. Choose Import transactions from: the date the payments should start. Nothing before it comes in. If you're not sure, choose the start of this year.
  5. You go to your bank's own site or app to log in and approve. Netto never sees your bank login.
  6. Back in Netto, tick the accounts that belong to your business. Leave private accounts unticked.

The connection runs through Ponto, a service licensed to read bank accounts. It is read-only: Netto can see your payments and balance, and can never move money.

Sync now fetches new payments straight away.

Renewing access

Banks ask you to renew your permission every few months. Netto warns you a few days before (Access expires in … days). Press Reconnect and approve at your bank again. Nothing is lost if you're late: once you reconnect, the missing payments come in.

Disconnect stops the connection. Payments already in Netto stay.

Upload a bank file

No connection, or an older period you want to add? Download a file of your transactions from your online banking and upload it.

  1. In your online banking, look for "download transactions" or "export". Choose the file that ends in .xml (sometimes called CAMT.053). If there's none, choose .sta (MT940) or CSV.
  2. In Netto, go to Bank and press Import statement. Choose the file.
  3. Lines you already have are skipped, so uploading the same period twice is safe.

For a CSV, Netto first shows Check before importing: how each column was read, how the amounts and dates are written, and which bank account in your books the lines go to. Check a few lines, then press Import … lines. Netto remembers the columns for the next file from the same bank. If the file has more than one account (N26 spaces, for example), tick only the ones that belong to the business.

Cash

Paid something in cash? You don't need a bank file for that: choose Cash when you add the cost. Is Cash greyed out? Switch on the cash book first, under Settings → Bank and cash. Cash payments are kept there, apart from your bank.

Next: match the lines

Every line that comes in needs to be explained once: which invoice it paid, which cost it was, or that it was private. See Match your bank lines.
